Layerz — Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 23, 2026

Layerz ("the App") is a realtime layering looper. This policy explains exactly what the App does with your data. The short version: your audio is recorded, processed, and stored on your device only. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you explicitly tap a button that sends it.

1. Audio Recordings

Layerz records audio through your device's microphone so you can monitor and overdub loops. All recording, effect processing, and playback happens on your device. Your loops are stored in the App's own storage and in a local App Group container (group.app.waveloop.shared) shared only with the other WaveLoop apps installed on the same device. No recording is transmitted anywhere as part of normal use.

2. When Audio Does Leave Your Device

Two actions send data off your device. Both are explicit, one-tap actions you choose to take — neither happens in the background or automatically.

3. Members Area

If you open the MEMBERS room or use “→ WALL”, the App sends your Apple-signed App Store receipt to waveloop.app to prove you own the App. The receipt is verified against Apple's certificates and used to derive a member identifier (Apple's app-transaction ID for your purchase). The developer stores that identifier together with which WaveLoop apps you own and the dates you first and last used the members area. This identifier is not your name, email, or Apple ID, and no account is created. If you never open the members area, none of this happens.

4. Camera (Video Passthrough)

Layerz can show your live camera behind the controls, and can loop the picture alongside the audio. That video is held in memory only — it is drawn on screen, never written to disk, never added to your library, and never uploaded. It is discarded when you clear the loop and when the app closes. Audio can be shared through the explicit buttons described above, and “→ VIDEO” renders the loop to an mp4 file and hands it to the standard iOS share sheet — where that file goes is entirely your choice in that sheet, and nothing is sent to the developer. The temporary export file is the only thing written to disk.

5. Optional AI Effect Designer

Layerz includes an optional feature that designs effect chains from a text prompt. It is disabled in this release, and even when enabled it does nothing until you supply your own Anthropic API key. If you supply one, your typed prompt and a description of your effect chain are sent to Anthropic under their privacy policy, using your key and your account. No audio is ever sent. The developer does not receive your key, your prompts, or the responses.

6. What We Collect

Layerz contains no analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers, and no user accounts. Apart from the explicit actions described in sections 2 and 3, the App makes no network requests. Standard, anonymous App Store metrics and crash reports are handled by Apple according to their policies, and only if you opt in via your device settings.

7. Deleting Your Data

Deleting a loop in the App — or deleting the App — removes it from your device. To have a file you posted to the wall before it was retired deleted, or your member identifier deleted, email the address below and it will be removed.

8. Children

Layerz does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. Significant changes will be posted on this page.
