PocketWave

X1 on a PocketCHIP. Single core, 480×272, keyboard only.

What is PocketWave?

A stripped-down waveOS for the Next Thing Co. PocketCHIP — the full X1 engine on a tiny screen.

  • Half resolution rendering (240×136 logical)
  • No VU meters or FFT — waveform only, edge-to-edge
  • 15fps display at 2048-sample audio buffer
  • ~15% CPU usage on single-core Cortex-A8
  • All controls mapped to the PocketCHIP keyboard
  • FX toggle presets — one key to enable, same key to disable

Get PocketWave

The PocketCHIP build isn't up for download yet. Leave your email and it comes to you when it is.

Installation

1. Copy the archive to your PocketCHIP:

scp pocketwave-arm.tar.gz chip@chip.local:~/

2. SSH in and extract:

ssh chip@chip.local
tar xzf pocketwave-arm.tar.gz
cd pocketwave

3. Install dependencies and run:

sudo apt-get install libsdl2-2.0-0 libasound2
DISPLAY=:0 ./waveloop-x1

For auto-start on boot, run sudo ./install.sh — this sets PocketWave as your LightDM session, replacing PocketHome.
